Kane Wommack on Alabama defense after FSU game: ‘They’re pissed, and they should be’

The No. 8-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide are coming off a surprisingly close 50-36 Week 3 victory over the Florida State Seminoles, a back-and-forth game until the Tide pulled away in the fourth quarter.
The Crimson Tide secondary, a unit widely considered among the nation’s best entering the season, looked extremely shaky all game against the ‘Seminoles’ passing attack, giving up 377 yards through the air.
Alabama insider Mike Rodak asked Crimson Tide defensive coordinator Kane Wommack what he thought about his unit’s performance against FSU on Monday afternoon, and Wommack said that his guys are “pissed.”
“They’re pissed, and they should be pissed,” Wommack said. “They did not do their job at a high enough level, and they are very capable of doing that. They are disappointed in themselves. The blame cannot be put on any one person.”
Any time a team’s defense allows the kind of big plays the Tide did last Saturday, alarm bells are going to go off. The fact that Aston Daniels and the rest of the Noles’ offense were able to seemingly carve up the Tide at will is a massive red flag for the team, and Wommack’s comments illustrate that reality.
If he and the rest of the Alabama staff can’t fix the glaring issues their defense has against the pass, the Tide could be in serious trouble down the stretch.
