When Kansas State beat Kentucky in the Sweet 16 on Thursday night, Kentucky was criticized for not sticking around to shake hands with the winning team.

However, this seems to be a controversy that is being overblown by the media, as Kansas State players aren’t sweating the perceived slight.

In fact, Barry Brown Jr. said he simply thinks the Wildcats were celebrating too much after the huge victory, causing Kentucky to not be able to congratulate the victors (via ASAP Sports):

Q.ย For any of the players, there was some controversy about the handshake last night with Kentucky. Were any of you offended by that, and what was your vantage point on that situation?
BARRY BROWN, JR.: Well, I mean, I think we were just cheering too much and didn’t really get kind of organized to be able to get in that line and shake their hands. Maybe they just walked off just because they didn’t think that we were going to get organized and be able to shake their hands.

Kansas State takes on Loyola-Chicago on Saturday night with a spot in the Final Four on the line. The game tips off at 6:09 p.m. Eastern time and can be seen on TBS.
