Keelon Russell on absence of Ryan Coleman-Williams: ‘It’s not like we’re missing Jesus’

Keelon Russell and Alabama suffered a tough loss on Saturday, as the Crimson Tide lost to Tennessee, 26-10. Alabama’s offense struggled all day, as the Volunteers sacked Russell five times, while also intercepting him twice.

One key thing was that Alabama star receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams was out with an injury.

After the game, Russell was asked about how much of an impact it was to not have Williams, and he said it wasn’t like they were ‘missing Jesus’.

“We’re playing ball. It’s not like we’re missing Jesus, and stuff like that,” Russell said. “Just playing ball.” “Not playing with him — we play with the same guys with practice. When Ryan isn’t in on one play, all the other guys are in.”

There are many different ways that can be taken, but the wording is very weird. Despite not playing in the game, he is still tied for the most catches, while leading the team in yards and touchdowns. For anyone watching the game on Saturday, it was pretty obvious that Williams could have helped the team out in the game.

In two games against Tennessee, he has 13 catches for 150 yards.

The Crimson Tide will hope to have Coleman-Williams back next week at home against Texas A&M.
