Kelvin Joseph facing charges related to fatal car crash, per report

Former NFL cornerback Kelvin Joseph has been charged with driving while intoxicated during a fatal crash in Texas this weekend.

According to a release from the Richardson Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 4:51 a.m. on the morning of Saturday, June 7. The statement says Joseph called the Plano Police Department to report his involvement in the accident.

Richardson Police say they observed “signs of intoxication” after speaking with Joseph about the accident. In addition to driving while intoxicated, Joseph has been charged with collision involving personal injury or death, which is a 2nd-degree felony.

Police allege Joseph was driving North on North Central Expressway when his BMW collided with a motorcycle. The victim has been identified as Cody Morris, a 27-year-old female from Plano, Texas.

Joseph played at LSU and Kentucky before moving on to a professional career. He was a 2nd-round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in 2021 and remained with the team for a couple of seasons. He most recently played in the NFL for the Miami Dolphins in 2024, appearing in 2 games. He’s currently a member of the DC Defenders in the United Football League.

Joseph has not yet released a statement on this matter as of Sunday morning.
