E.J. Price has had a tumultuous college career, so it was no surprise that the Kentucky offensive lineman made it through another dose of adversity.

The Southern Cal transfer who nearly left the team after a series of ill-timed tweets has settled into a role at left tackle for the Wildcats, a role he’s shared with Naasir Watkins. But Watkins suffered a knee injury in the win over South Carolina, and Price is listed as the starter this week at Texas A&M.

Left tackle was thought to be a position of strength, but UK’s already lost Landon Young to a season-ending knee injury, and now Watkins’ injury has cut into the depth once more. On top of those injuries, Price revealed Tuesday that he’s dealt with torn ligaments in his fingers the first five weeks of the season.

Price is a part of a dominant rushing attack for the Wildcats that leads the SEC in rushing through five games with 1,271 yards and 16 touchdowns. His health improvement comes at an ideal time for Kentucky, which can’t afford to sustain another injury to a left tackle.
