Kevin Knox says Mizzou can ‘make some noise’ in NCAA Tournament with Michael Porter Jr. back

The Missouri Tigers were thrilled to have star freshman Michael Porter Jr. back for the SEC Tournament this week, as he was returning to action for the first time since the season opener.

However, even though he did about as well as could be reasonably expected of him on Thursday, the Tigers came up short against Georgia, ending their SEC tourney run before it could get started.

That nixed a potential quarterfinal matchup with Kentucky, which would have seen MPJ and Kevin Knox going head-to-head. Following Kentucky’s win on Saturday to advance to the final, Knox was asked about Porter and said he’s excited to see what the talented forward can do during next week’s NCAA Tournament (via STLToday.com):

โ€œHe can help them out a lot,โ€ Knox said. โ€œHeโ€™s a great player with his ability to shoot the ball and get to the basket. Once he starts to get with the team, heโ€™ll be fine. That was his first game back (on Thursday). Heโ€™s got to work his way into it. But theyโ€™ve been playing really well without him. They just have to fit him back in. But I definitely think they can make some noise in the tournament.โ€

The Tigers will likely make it to March Madness as a No. 8 or No. 9 seed, with Kentucky working its way up to the No. 4 or No. 5 seed area.

A matchup between the two schools in the tourney is unlikely, but MPJ has a fan in Knox, and it’s likely that the feeling is mutual.
