Kevin Steele shares updates on Alabama DL, secondary heading into 2023 season
Kevin Steele had a lot to say about the Alabama at the podium on Sunday’s presser. Two of the groups he highlighted were the defensive line and secondary.
Steele seemed pleased with how much talent is on the DL and how coachable the group looked so far during camp.
โRight now, weโre early in fall practice, but theyโve worked really hard in the summer as a defensive line group. Weโve got talent there,” said Steele. “Theyโre very coachable. And weโve got some guys that are developing leadership in the room. Thatโs still a work in progress. But we have the talent. Weโve just gotta work the process.โ
Steele also talked about the development and versatility of the secondary. He mentioned that it’s very early into the process, but things are starting to come together.
โAgain, weโre early in the process. In the summertime, we do get some work with them, and we had spring practice. Again, the same thing, weโre Alabama. We have talent. There are talented guys out there. Weโve got guys that have played a lot, and weโve got some guys who have not played so much yet. But itโs starting to fit together in terms of whoโs where and what and then what their strengths are and how to utilize those.โ
It sounds like Steele is starting to put the pieces of his defense together.
