Kirby Smart and Georgia have an open week after a heartbreaking loss to Auburn, one that saw Gunner Stockton fumble the ball later in the fourth quarter before the Tigers’ Alex MacPherson drilled a last-second field goal to complete the upset.

There was some concern for Stockton early in the game, though. After his head struck the Sanford Stadium turf on the Dawgs’ opening drive, the Georgia quarterback was forced to briefly exit before returning.

Per Smart on Tuesday, Stockton “has not had any concussion symptoms.”

“I can only go off what medical people tell me. I look at him in the eye and talking to him, there was no issue on any of that,” Smart said, according to DawgNation.

The signal-caller didn’t leave Saturday’s game unscathed, though. Smart also revealed that Stockton has been dealing with a stinger, but there’s hope that he will “quickly” recover.

The Bulldogs head coach hit out at speculation that Stockton may have been concussed against the Tigers.

“He could have very easily had two interceptions, right? I mean, he had one, and the other was debatable, right? So he played pretty good, had two interceptions. He still did some really good things in that game,” Smart said. “And I don’t think that making it about a head injury when there’s no symptoms of that are realistic.”
