Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs travel to Oxford in Week 10 to take on Ole Miss in one of the biggest games of the weekend. When preparing for Ole Miss, the No. 1 focus in stopping the Rebels’ offense is Trinidad Chambliss, who is as good of quarterback as there is.
While he has many talents that jump off the page, Chambliss’ ability to anticipate is something that Smart believes separates him from everybody else.
“It’s the down-in, down-out decision-making that he’s really elite at, the accuracy that he’s elite at,” Smart told reporters on Monday. “The release, the decision. He’s just pinpoint. He has an anticipation of windows that’s probably unmatched. I don’t know if that’s God-given, or the fact that he played a lot of football before he got to Ole Miss. He has played a lot of football, and experience helps. You throw all that in, and you’ve got a tremendous athlete. He goes forwards, backwards as fast as he goes sideways. He’s just a great athlete that is a great quarterback.”
The two teams split last year, but the Rebels won the CFP matchup with one of the more memorable performances by a quarterback in quite some time. In that game, Chambliss delivered a 362-yard, 2-touchdown performance to help the Rebels overcome a 9-point deficit in the second half.
For the Rebels, they are in a situation where they are going to have to run the table to feel safe about making the CFP. This is the final matchup for the Rebels against a ranked team, and Smart and his staff will have a tough challenge on Saturday.
Kickoff between the two teams is at 7:30 p.m. ET, and the game will be on ABC.
