Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs will be taking on Alabama on Saturday in one of the biggest games of the college football season. The Crimson Tide offense is playing well as any team in the country, led by quarterback Keelon Russell. While the passing game is getting much of the talk, it is the Alabama rushing attack that Smart thinks has gotten better.
While speaking during the SEC’s teleconference on Wednesday, Smart evaluated the Crimson Tide unit and highlighted the ways Alabama’s running backs have improved since last year.
“They’re physical, extremely physical,” Smart told reporters on Wednesday. “They have a commitment to the run, a commitment that is unwavering. And they have really physical tight ends, really physical offensive line. And they have big backs and lots of them. They’ve got really four functioning backs that are playing at a high level and doing a great job.”
The Crimson Tide have been a much more physical team this season, and they could get even more physical this week with a potential return of right tackle Jayvin James. He left the game against South Carolina, but head coach Kalen DeBoer said during the week the team is hopeful that he will be back.
To beat Georgia, you have to be ready to play a physical 60 minutes.
The last time these two teams played in Tuscaloosa was a game for the ages. The Crimson Tide jumped to a 28-0 lead, but the Bulldogs were able to come back and take a 34-33 lead before Ryan Coleman-Williams caught a 75-yard touchdown to secure the win for Alabama.
Kickoff is currently scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET, and the game will be on ABC.
