Kirby Smart praises Georgia’s running game, explains how Bulldogs offense will have success in 2023
Heading into the 2023 season, Georgia’s passing game is the big story.
With returners like Brock Bowers, Ladd McConkey and Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, the Bulldogs have all the fire power in the world for the passing game.
But Kirby Smart expects his run game to turn some heads too. Smart broke down what he has seen from his running backs in fall camp and what they need to do to have success this season in the SEC coaches teleconference on Wednesday.
“Theyโve done a good job in terms of physicality, youโre going against yourself, so anything you do well, maybe youโre doing it poorly on the other side. Itโs the hardest judgement there is until you play somebody else. We have, I feel like a good plan going in terms of what we want to do offensively, with runs and play-actions together. We have willing blockers at tight end, receiver, even the backs when they donโt have the ball. We have a quarterback who understands, but it doesnโt mean weโve executed against anybody yet. A lot of thatโs yet to be determined and weโre excited to go play.”
Georgia will begin the 2023 campaign and a quest for a 3rd-straight championship in a matchup against UT-Martin on Saturday.
