Kirby Smart ‘proud’ of draft-eligible Georgia players who opted to play in Orange Bowl
Kirby Smart was grateful to have a team that doesn’t have many opt outs leading up to the Orange Bowl.
Smart revealed on Friday that he met with all of the players who are able to go into the NFL Draft. The desire to play in the bowl game was there for all of them, even though there are those who couldn’t play due to injury. That alone gave Smart a lot of pride about his team.
Many programs see players decide to opt out of bowl games each postseason to prepare for the NFL Draft. However, it sounds like that isn’t an issue for Georgia.
Kirby Smart said he met with all draft-eligible players before any decisions were made about possible opt-outs. Said he talked about their situation honestly, and all wanted to play. Now, some may not due to injuries, but he was proud that all want to play and represent Georgia… https://t.co/1LVHmx7Y2t

The Bulldogs will face undefeated Florida State, who will be without many of its starters on offense and defense in the Orange Bowl. The two teams last met each other in the 2003 Sugar Bowl as Georgia won 26-13.
Fans will be hoping that Smart can close out the 2023 season with a win over the Seminoles. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET on ESPN.
