Kirby Smart weighs in on NIL concerns, demands facing college coaches

Kirby Smart has seen the drama that NIL has caused recently in the college football world. Nick Saban and Jimbo Fisher are in a feud and other coaches are openly complaining about the NIL landscape, too.
Kirby Smart is coming off his first national championship at Georgia, and even he has some concerns about how demanding it is to be a college football coach these days.
Appearing on “The Paul Finebaum Show” this week, Smart said he hopes some guidelines are put in place soon (via On3 Sports):
โThe world we live in in college football is changing so fast,โ Smart said. โIโm hoping there are some guiderails put in to help college coaches who love the game and enjoy it. Right now youโre chasing your own players, youโre chasing players that are in the portal and then youโre chasing recruits. So youโre getting pulled in a lot of directions. Thereโs a lot of demands. Itโs 24/7, all the time. I got in this game because I like the relationships and coaching. Not the chasing.โ
Many have called on the NCAA and Congress to enforce some rules on NIL. But, so far, nothing has happened. Will we see things change soon?
