After redshirting in 2017, Kyriq McDonald’s playing career at Alabama lasted only 11 games before he decided to leave Nick Saban’s program. Now we know where the Madison, Ala. native plans on continuing his athletic career.
As first reported by Chad Brendel of BearcatJournal.com, McDonald is heading up north to play for Cincinnati. McDonald had seven tackles last season during his 11 games of action, which the first and only season on the field of his college career.
McDonald was twice honored by the Alabama coaching staff as Special Teams Player of the Week following his performances against Mississippi State and Auburn last season.
The former three-star recruit signed with Alabama after a standout career at James Clemens High School in Madison, Ala. He signed with the Crimson Tide over scholarship offers from Florida State, Louisville and Mississippi State.
