Lane Kiffin cites ‘rat poison’ after taking late safety in win over Marshall

Florida Atlantic was a six-point favorite against Marshall on Friday night, but a late safety meant the Owls only won by five points, 30-25.

Still, the Owls are bowl eligible for the first time since 2008 and are playing well for Kiffin.

However, as you can see in the video below, the safety that prevented the Owls from covering was taken by design to run time off the clock:

Naturally, Kiffin took to Twitter after the game, where he is one of the best follows in college football. He then poked fun at former boss Nick Saban, saying he didn’t want to cover the six-point spread because of rat poison:

Florida Atlantic is 6-3 overall and 5-0 in Conference USA play. Kiffin has the Owls trending in the right direction, and he’s having fun doing it.

At this point, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Owls playing for a conference title, perhaps against North Texas or Southern Miss.
