Lane Kiffin honors father with custom jacket at SEC Media Days

Lane Kiffin almost got choked up when giving his opening statement at SEC Media Days. Almost.
Kiffin, Ole Miss football’s head coach, recently lost his mother, Robin, and father, Monte within the past year. He used the first few moments of his statement to honor them and give thanks for the perspective that they’ve given him in Oxford, specifically pertaining to his own family.
Following his opening statements and questions portion of Ole Miss’s time at SEC Media Days, Kiffin joined the SEC Network crew to talk further. While there, he was asked to show off his custom suit that had pictures and memories of he and his father.

According to Kiffin, the jacket is specifically from all the places that his father coached. Monte is considered to be one of the greatest defensive coordinators the game of football has ever seen, and he had a major impact on programs the likes of Nebraska, Arkansas, the Minnesota Vikings, Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay, to name a few. Famously, he’s the creator of the Tampa 2 defensive coverage.
Ole Miss football will kick off its season against Georgia State on August 30.
