Lane Kiffin notes Ole Miss fans showing up early: ‘I guess I had to leave to get them to do that’

It got a bit more dramatic than they would have liked, but the Ole Miss Rebels exacted revenge on Lane Kiffin by beating his LSU Tigers 32-24 on Saturday night. The Rebels sealed their victory on a goal-line interception, sending their crowd into an absolute frenzy.
Ole Miss’ crowd noise may have peaked at that moment, but the home fans were rowdy all day long. They opened the festivities by booing Kiffin upon entry to the stadium, and kept the verbal assault going throughout the game. Postgame, Kiffin credited the Rebel crowd for its impact. In the process, though, he patted himself on the back.
“I think [we walked] into a storm… that’s what happens a lot of times in these games,” Kiffin said. “The stadium was full an hour early… [I] guess I had to leave to get them to do that. So, you’re welcome.”
LSU’s vaunted defense gave up touchdowns on three straight Ole Miss possessions to end the first half. The Tigers’ halftime 24-7 deficit proved too much for Kiffin and Co. to overcome despite them tying the game early in the fourth quarter.
Neither team can rest on its laurels after their emotional Week 3 tilt. LSU hosts Texas A&M next weekend, while the Rebels hit the road for a matchup with the Florida Gators.
