Programs across the country are gearing up for spring camp and polishing off their rosters, and down in Baton Rouge, headlines surrounding Lane Kiffin and the Bayou Bengals will likely revolve around the quarterback situation.

Arizona State transfer Sam Leavitt figures to be the starter once healthy, but he’s currently recovering from a foot injury that sidelined him for the latter portion of the Sun Devils’ 2025 campaign.

So, Kiffin gave himself some insurance in the form of former blue-chip USC transfer Husan Longstreet and dual-threat Landen Clark, an intriguing addition for the FCS’ Elon.

Asked about the current state of the quarterback room and the status of Leavitt, Kiffin provided largely positive notes.

“Really pleased with the QB transfers. It’s not just about getting the top players; you have to develop under the top guys,” Kiffin said. “Leavitt will throw. He will participate in 7-on-7 stuff in the spring, not the team stuff.”

While Leavitt projects to be the starter when LSU opens the season at home against Clemson, Longstreet and Clark could certainly make strong moves up the depth chart in the spring.

Of course, that could be complicated by the fact that there are a plethora of new faces within the team and coaching staff, making this an interesting camp for Kiffin & Co.
