Lane Kiffin tells LSU fans to ‘start drinking earlier’ for Alabama game with afternoon kickoff
The Week 10 clash between the Alabama Crimson Tide and LSU Tigers has its usual set of circumstances. College Football Playoff ramifications and any chance at an SEC Championship bid are on the line in Baton Rouge on Saturday. The timing of the game, though, is abnormal.
For years, whenever the Crimson Tide and Tigers got together, particularly in Death Valley, they played at night. This year, it’s a 3:30 p.m. ET kick. LSU fans aren’t happy about that, but Lane Kiffin doesn’t care. He’s calling upon his fanbase to funnel its anger into an evolved approach for the critical contest.
“Have breakfast earlier, start drinking earlier,” Kiffin said on Monday. “Whatever your routine is, just move it up.”
Alabama (6-2, 4-2 SEC) and LSU (6-2, 3-2 SEC) both believe their standard goes beyond reaching the CFP. However, the loser of Saturday’s game may not even make the final 12-team bracket.
The Crimson Tide, if they can beat the Tigers, should see relatively smooth sailing with Vanderbilt, Chattanooga and Auburn to end the season. The Bayou Bengals would have a better 3-loss resume, but would also have no room for error ahead of games against Texas and Tennessee if they fall at home.
In case you forgot, Alabama and LSU kick off in their de facto playoff game at 3:30 p.m. ET (ABC) on Saturday.
