Lane Kiffin has never been afraid to embrace the heel role in the media.
On Saturday, Ole Miss opened up a 22-10 halftime lead over Oklahoma. The Sooners eventually pulled ahead, 26-25, in the third quarter before the Rebels pulled ahead for good in the fourth en route to a 34-26 win.
Kiffin was fired up after the win, which improved the Rebels to 7-1 and kept them well within the College Football Playoff race. He even had some trash talk for one of the Sooner defenders during a postgame interview with ABC, too.
“Little quieter now than before,” Molly McGrath’s mic caught Lane Kiffin saying.
After Sooners DL David Stone walked over to congratulate Kiffin, the Ole Miss head coach let loose.
“This guy right here yelled at me during the game, like, 5 times, how great they were, and we can’t score on them,” he said.
Stone wasn’t the only one giving it to Kiffin on Saturday, either. Oklahoma fans did the Gator Chomp before kickoff in Norman amid reports that Kiffin was the top candidate to replace Billy Napier at Florida.
To the Rebels’ credit, they put up 34 points on the No. 1-ranked defense in the country, the most the Sooners have allowed all season. So you probably can’t blame Kiffin for being fired up after this latest victory.
