‘Lock the f-ing gate’: Social media goes wild for Jon Sumrall’s fiery pregame speech

From the moment he was hired as Florida‘s head football coach, Jon Sumrall has shown a fiery intensity that has resonated with Gator fans. As one would expect, it was on full display before his regular-season debut.
On Tuesday evening, Florida’s social media team released a 12-minute video recapping the Gators’ Week 1 win over Florida Atlantic. A clip from the video of Sumrall’s intense, expletive-filled pregame speech is getting the attention of fans and media members. Understandably, the UF social team made use of the bleep button.
"I hope we play ‘til f—ing 2 a.m. We don't get to do this shit enough. … Lock the f—ing gate, take their ass into deep waters and see if they can f—ing swim. They can’t, ‘cause we’re gonna f—ing choke their ass out.”

“I hope we get to play until f—ing 2 a.m.,” Sumrall is heard saying. “We don’t get to do this s— enough. Everything you got, all freaking night. Don’t let them off the hook. Don’t let them off the hook. Lock the f—ing gate, take their ass into the deep water and see if they can f—ing swim. They can’t because we’re going to f—ing choke their ass out.”
There’s near-universal approval for Sumrall’s speech among Florida fans and other college football observers.
