During the week, Beyonce and Jay-Z visited Williams-Brice Stadium, where they put on quite the show at the Gamecocks’ stadium.
However, in the aftermath of the show, the entirety of the field turf is in need of a replacement, and the Gamecocks’ stadium crew is busy at work on that project.
As you can see in the photo below, workers are rushing to get the job done in a timely fashion, as the Gamecocks open the season next Saturday against Coastal Carolina:

However, this wasn’t an unexpected piece of maintenance. Knowing the field would need to be replaced anyway, the old turf was kept down until after the big concert. In fact, the concert contract even stipulated that the performers would help with the replacement of the field:
Ray Tanner says the cost to resod Williams-Brice will be anywhere between $150K up to โa couple hundred thousandโ dollars. Added the price to resod the field wonโt be too far off from what it usually cost them to do it every year. @wachfox pic.twitter.com/KwAWSfg77M

Cont. – The concert organizers will be picking up some of the bill to help resod the field. Ray said that was one of the first things they discussed in the contract was making sure USC wouldnโt be stuck with that entire bill.
