Louisiana Governor trolls Ole Miss: ‘Enjoy today with the team our coach built’

Ole Miss is set to embark on its first-ever College Football Playoff appearance on Saturday as it faces Tulane at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
The central figure of that team’s season won’t be there, though.
Lane Kiffin, of course, left for LSU not long after the regular season ended, leading to Pete Golding being promoted to the head coach of the Rebels and several Rebels players feeling scorned by Kiffin’s decision.
Ole Miss‘s first-round game against Tulane — which is based, of course, in New Orleans — has led to plenty of back-and-forth between Louisiana’s governor, Jeff Landry, and Mississippi’s governor, Tate Reeves. Check out this salvo from Reeves on Saturday morning, hours before the Rebels’ Playoff game:
Landry isn’t completely wrong. Kiffin engineered a historic season for the Rebels, culminating in a Playoff appearance. Of course, it was Landry who gave now-former LSU AD Scott Woodward a vote of non-confidence regarding the Tigers’ search for a head coach after Brian Kelly was fired eight games into his fourth season and a 34-14 record, albeit with no Playoff appearances.
Kiffin, for his part, is trying to keep the peace between the two governors, tweeting out the hashtag #AllLove on Saturday morning.
When you hear the SEC’s slogan, “It Just Means More,” it certainly applies to this case.
