Louisville’s poorly executed fake punt comes up short of first down

The Kentucky Wildcats have a 17-6 lead in the second quarter against rival Louisville in the Governor’s Cup game.
Three of those points came courtesy of a drive that started in Louisville territory after a fake punt from the Cardinals came up short.
As you can see below, the player on the far right of the line of scrimmage snaps the ball, but then the play is a fake run to the right, where there were no blockers. Kentucky’s punt coverage unit made the stop:

Several Louisville players were downfield not blocking anyone. Perhaps if it was a fake punt pass, it would have worked.
Either way, the Wildcats are looking good as they drive again midway through the second quarter of play.
