The future of the Brian Kelly era at LSU is under scrutiny, according to a report.

Per Yahoo’s Ross Dellenger, LSU administrators are still deliberating over Kelly’s future in the wake of the Tigers’ embarrassing loss to Texas A&M on Saturday night in Baton Rouge. The Aggies beat LSU 49-25 on Saturday night and scored 35 consecutive points in the second half.

Per Dellenger’s report, discussions remain ongoing and include Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry.

If Kelly is fired without cause, he would be owed a substantial buyout by LSU. Kelly initially signed a 10-year deal when LSU hired him after the 2021 season and would be owed 90% of the remaining money on his deal if LSU decides to part ways.

Landry’s involvement in these discussions is not a major surprise. The Louisiana Governor sent out a pointed message on social media about rising LSU football ticket prices on Saturday night.

With 3 losses already this season, LSU is almost certainly out of the mix to earn a College Football Playoff berth this year. It’s a huge disappointing for an LSU program that returned starting quarterback Garrett Nussmeier as well as several other key players.

LSU is idle in Week 10 and will not play again until Nov. 8 against Alabama.
