The No. 1 tight end in the Class of 2027 is staying home.
Ahmad Hudson, who hails from Ruston, Louisiana, announced on Sunday via Instagram that he will play for LSU and head coach Lane Kiffin.
Hudson is an elite tight end prospect, a consensus 5-star who stands at 6-foot-6, 240 pounds. He chose the Tigers over Nebraska, who was pursuing the standout TE relentlessly heading into his announcement. LSU and Nebraska were named finalists for Hudson just under a month ago.
Hudson is also an elite basketball recruit in addition to being the No. 16 overall prospect in the Calss of 2027, considered to be the No. 25 overall hoops prospect per Rivals. Football season and basketball season obviously overlap, but there’s technically nothing stopping Hudson from suiting up for Will Wade’s Tigers in conference play.
Hudson is the fifth commitment of the 2027 cycle for LSU, as well as the second top 25 prospect. He joins 4-star pass rusher Jaiden Bryant, 4-star quarterback Peyton Houston, 4-star ATH Braydon Calais and 4-star WR Ah’Mari Stevens.
Despite all the 4-and-5-star talent, LSU’s 2027 class is ranked No. 44 per 247Sports’ rankings, which ranks 11th in the SEC.
