LSU expulsion no longer on SEC’s Thursday meeting agenda, per report

SEC presidents are no longer set to discuss the expulsion of LSU, according to a college football insider.
Sources told Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports that potentially expelling LSU from the conference is no longer on the agenda for Thursday’s meeting of SEC presidents. A Tuesday court filing by the SEC stated that LSU’s status as a member of the conference would be discussed on Thursday, Sept. 10.

As part of legal discussions, conference representatives have conveyed this to LSU officials and other league members.
Dellenger’s report is the latest indication of the temperature cooling in the dispute between LSU and the SEC. The conference and the university have been at odds over the enrollment of Dae’Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris after they were let go from NFL preseason rosters.
Ahead of Week 1, LSU submitted a roster with 103 out of 105 spots filled, declining to roster Wright and Harris but leaving the option open to later include them. On Tuesday night, hours after the SEC amended court filing seeking authority for expulsion revealed the Thursday meeting, news broke that LSU was filling its final two roster spots while leaving Wright and Harris unrostered, officially ending the possibility of the two playing for the Tigers in 2026.
Wright and Harris received court orders granting them 2026 eligibility via application of the NCAA’s new 5-in-5 policy that was not applied to athletes from the Class of 2022. The SEC contested that its own conference rules forbid rostering players who had gone through the NFL Draft or been on an NFL roster.
