LSU is favored to beat Auburn in the battle of the Tigers in Week 8 on the Plains, but the Bayou Bengals version of the Tigers could have a big challenge on their hands based on what those other Tigers just did.

Those other Tigers, the ones from Auburn, just went to Athens and took down previous No. 1 Georgia in a Week 7 stunner that ended with a last-second field goal. Auburn is still unranked after the incredible victory, and the win simply got the Tigers to .500 in the SEC at 2-2 while they improved to 4-2 overall.

But Auburn will have a ton of momentum coming into the Week 8 matchup with LSU that will kick off at noon ET on ABC. Despite that narrative, when Circa Sports unveiled the opening lines for Week 8 of the 2026 season on Sunday afternoon, the Tigers — LSU, that is — were installed as a 7-point favorite over Auburn with the over-under total set at 51.

The Tigers of first-year head coach Lane Kiffin will bring their own momentum to the Plains next Saturday after destroying Mississippi State, 31-0, in a Week 7 whitewashing in Death Valley. Now, Kiffin’s team that is 5-2 overall and also 2-2 in the SEC heads back on the road for the Tiger Bowl clash.

As the early odds showed on Sunday, the belief next Saturday lies with the road Tigers who are the ranked team, at least for now.

Here is the line on that game as well as all the Week 8 opening lines:

While LSU is the early favorite at Auburn, here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about the battle of the teams with the same nickname in Week 8 on the Plains:
