LSU’s impressive points allowed streak continues for yet another week

LSU’s defense has been one of its most consistent bright spots throughout the 2016 season. The Tigers currently rank sixth among FBS teams in scoring defense (13.9 ppg) and 13th in total defense (312.3) and lead all teams with 10 touchdowns allowed through nine games.
Here’s another interesting stat, the Tigers haven’t allowed an opponent to score more than 21 points in a single game in 2016.
Ironically, both of LSU’s season-worst totals came in winning performances. The Tigers allowed 21 points during their win over Ole Miss on Oct. 22 and 20 points during their Sept. 17 victory over Mississippi State.
Otherwise, LSU has held every opponent to under 20 points, including during its three losses to Wisconsin (16 points), Auburn (18) and Alabama (10). However, the Tigers’ next opponent, Florida, has also dominated on the defensive side.
The Gators rank fifth among FBS teams with 13.3 points allowed and have held five opponents to single digits. Could Saturday’s matchup be another low scoring affair?
