Malcolm Simmons update: Domestic violence charge dismissed, per report

Auburn wide receiver Malcolm Simmons is no longer facing a domestic violence charge, according to a report.
The charge against Simmons in Lee County this summer have been dismissed. Simmons was arrested on July 16 following an alleged domestic violence incident. He faced a charge of domestic violence with strangulation or suffocation.
However, Simmons has now been cleared less than a month since he was first booked. AuburnUndercover was first to report that news.
Despite the charges, Simmons has been a participant at Auburn’s fall camp over the past couple of weeks. Coach Hugh Freeze told reporters on July 30 that he had been cleared to participate in team activities amid the investigation.
“Based on the information that I’ve been given from our campus administration, who have knowledge of the matter, he’s been cleared to participate in team activities,” Freeze said last month.
Simmons is one of multiple talented receivers Auburn is hoping will have a breakout season in 2025. He’s expected to compete for a starting role alongside Cam Coleman and Eric Singleton after catching 40 passes for 451 yards and 3 touchdowns in 2024 as a true freshman.
Auburn will open the 2025 season against Baylor in Week 1.
