Georgia senior Stetson Bennett, fresh off leading the Bulldogs to last season’s national title, headlines a list of 6 SEC quarterbacks named to the Manning Award preseason watch list.

Alabama junior Bryce Young, Tennessee senior Hendon Hooker, Arkansas junior KJ Jefferson, Kentucky senior Will Levis and Mississippi State junior Will Rogers were also named to the watch list for the award that honors the top quarterback in the country following the completion of the bowl games.

Young captured last year’s Manning Award while leading the Crimson Tide to the national championship game, where they fell to Bennett and the Bulldogs. Rogers was also a finalist for last season’s award.

The watch list includes 30 of the top quarterbacks in the nation heading into the 2022 season, and the SEC led the way with its 6 preseason selections.

From the press release from the Manning Award:

The winner will again be selected by a voting panel, which includes national media and each of the Mannings, after the bowls.

The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates’ bowl performances in its balloting.
