Marcus Satterfield’s first-half play calling has Gamecock fans reversing season-long criticism

Marcus Satterfield has been the target of South Carolina fan angst all season, and now he’s delivered a first half to remember as the Gamecocks have delivered their best first-half offensive showing of the season.
Satterfield, the South Carolina offensive coordinator, engineered an offense which produced 21 points in the first quarter which is the most it’s scored in a first quarter under Shane Beamer. The previous high mark was 18 against North Carolina in the bowl game last season.
Spencer Rattler started 13-for-16 passing for 230 yards and 3 touchdowns as 9 different South Carolina players caught passes, including Rattler himself for 15 yards. Perhaps most importantly, the Gamecocks were 4-for-6 on third down and 2-for-2 on fourth down.
South Carolina scored a touchdown on each of its first 5 drives, and it was the first time South Carolina scored 35 points in any half against an SEC team since 1995.
Tennessee scored with 12 seconds remaining to make it 35-24 at halftime.
Here’s a sample of the reaction:
