Both Alabama and LSU are on byes this weekend, but it’s never too early to talk about their annual showdown happening next Saturday night in Death Valley.

Since 2007 Alabama or LSU has represented the SEC West in the championship game 12 times.

Louisiana sportscaster Jacques Doucet had ESPN NFL and College football analyst Marcus Spears on his webcast and the “Big Swagu” had plenty of thoughts on LSU and its chances against Alabama.

“I don’t see it happening to be honest with you, college football is nuts though,” Spears said. “2019 was the one time in a minute that [LSU] walked in and I said the level of talent on this team is equal and in some areas it’s better.

“We haven’t been as good. We haven’t had the talent that they’ve had. We haven’t had the consistency at quarterback they’ve had. Our lines of scrimmage have not been good enough to sustain four-quarter games.”

Spears continues to stress that the line of scrimmage in the big deciding factors in Alabama-LSU games, not a surprsing opinion from a former first-round defensive linemen.

But he isn’t completely counting the Tigers out.

“I’m not going into this game saying LSU has no chance,” Spears continued. “These dudes are playing well and the believability that they have that they can play with anybody…that has a lot to do with college football.”

It’s a fun conversation and you can skip to the 4:50 mark to get directly to Swagu’s comments on next week’s game.
