ESPN’s College GameDay is live in Coral Gables in Week 4 for the rivalry matchup between Florida and host No. 4 Miami. It’s the first time GameDay has been on Miami’s campus since 2020 and fans are definitely making their voices heard.

Immediately as the broadcast began, a “(expletive) the Gators” chant ensued from the rowdy throng of diehard Hurricanes fans. Pat McAfee marveled at the intensity and fervent passion of the fanbase ahead of the first showdown between the programs in Miami since 2013.

“Geez, what if that goes the whole show?… ” McAfee said. “We didn’t even really get a word out, and they started with this.”

Miami went into Gainesville in last season’s opener and won 41-17. The Hurricanes lead the all-time series 30-27. Interestingly from 1988 to 2000, the teams didn’t play while during that span the Hurricanes (2) and Gators (1) combined for 3 national titles.

Miami is coming off a 49-12 victory vs. then-No. 18 South Florida. The Hurricanes kicked off the season with a 27-24 win vs. then-No. 6 Notre Dame and in Week 2 defeated Bethune 45-3.

Florida shutout Long Island 55-0 in the season opener but have dropped its last 2 games 18-16 vs. South Florida and 20-3 at No 3 LSU.

The primetime clash between Florida and Miami is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (ABC). If the GameDay atmosphere is any indication, Hard Rock Stadium will be electric for the in-state rivalry.
