Miami-Ole Miss: Opening odds for CFP semifinal at the Fiesta Bowl
The Miami Hurricanes will meet the Ole Miss Rebels in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 8 for a spot in the College Football Playoff National Championship.
According to the opening odds from BetMGM, Miami is a 3-point favorite over Ole Miss. The game total was set at 51.5 points.
Miami shocked Ohio State in the quarterfinal round on New Year’s Eve, knocking off the defending champs 24-14 to advance to the semis in the program’s first-ever CFP appearance.
The Hurricanes (12-2) have won 6 straight games dating back to the start of November. They upset Texas A&M on the road in College Station on Dec. 20.
Ole Miss won its first-round game at home over Tulane, 41-10, in much less contentious fashion. But the Rebels found themselves in a heavyweight battle Thursday night at the Sugar Bowl against Georgia.
The Rebels (13-1) prevailed 39-34, avenging their only regular-season loss. Despite losing coach Lane Kiffin to LSU at the end of the regular season, Ole Miss has extended its winning streak to 7 games.
This will be just the fourth meeting between the 2 programs all-time, and the first since 1951. Ole Miss won the first 2 meetings. Miami won the most recent.
Kickoff between the Rebels and the Hurricanes is set for 7:30 p.m. ET next Thursday in Glendale, Arizona.
