Michigan coaching search update: New candidate emerges as favorite, per prediction markets
The Michigan coach search has taken another turn over the last 24 hours.
Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer appears to be out of the mix for the Michigan job following the Tide’s big win over Oklahoma on Friday night. Another top candidate, Arizona State’s Kenny Dillingham, is also off the board after he reportedly inked a long-term extension on Saturday morning.
According to the latest prediction market prices on Kalshi, former Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham has emerged as the favorite to take over in Ann Arbor. As of publication, he’s priced at 27 cents per contract to get the job.
While that price is subject to change at any moment, the chart below shows the live odds for the next permanent Michigan head coach on Kalshi:

Whittingham stepped down from his position as Utah’s head coach earlier this month in a bit of a surprising move. Whittingham is Utah’s all-time wins leader, but said he’s open to new opportunities.
“I’m in the transfer portal” Whittingham said this week.
In addition to Whittingham, Washington head coach Jedd Fisch and Mizzou coach Eli Drinkwitz appear to be candidates for the job as well.
A resolution is expected in the coming days.
