Middle Tennessee unveils jersey patch honoring late Dolly Parton

The Volunteer State lost a legendary Tennessean this week with the passing of Dolly Parton on Tuesday. Middle Tennessee has announced that it will be honoring the Queen of Country Music in its season opener.

“Coach Derek Mason and I were talking about how we can honor one of the great Tennesseans and one of the greatest people in the world,” Middle Tennessee athletic director Chris Massaro said in a released statement. “The football team is honored to wear this for our home opener.”
Following Middle Tennessee’s game against Murray State on Sept. 5, the jerseys will be donated to the university’s Center for Popular Music in Murfreesboro.
“We can’t wait to have this part of our collection,” the center’s director, Charlie Dahan, said via MTSU. “We have so much great Dolly stuff… so this is a wonderful addition.”
Middle Tennessee fans will be encouraged to donate to Parton’s Imagination Library via QR code displayed on the scoreboard throughout the Week 1 game.
