Minnesota punt returner inexplicably runs out of bounds yards away from wide open endzone

Minnesota wide receiver Javon Tracy is one of the best playmakers on the Golden Gophers’ roster, and he is a real threat to score any time he touches the ball.
During a punt return against Akron, he appeared to be doing just that. However, while taking a glance to see if the defenders were chasing him down, he lost track of where he was and stepped out of bounds before reaching the goal line.

Tracy had a big game in the 41-7 win against the Zips, as he led the way with five catches for 91 yards. He also added 80 yards in punt returns, including 64-yards on that play.
Ultimately, he would liked to have had about 7 more all-purpose yards and a touchdown. Last year was his first season at Minnesota, and he finished with 37 catches for 454 yards and 6 touchdowns.
He is on pace to have more yards this year, but he hasn’t been able to get in the end zone quite yet. For Tracy, this is a play that he will probably see a few times, both in a film situation as well as from his friends. If he finds himself in a similar situation next week against Washington, look for him to get the 6 points.
