The 99th meeting of the Egg Bowl has been moved from Saturday to Friday, November 27.

Mississippi State and Ole Miss jointly announced on Thursday that their annual rivalry game for the 2026 season will be played on Black Friday rather than the Saturday after Thanksgiving. A kickoff time and TV designation will be made at a later date.

This will mark the third straight season the game will be played on Black Friday. It will be just the seventh time the game is played on a Friday overall, but the fourth since 2007.

The 2026 season will mark the 123rd all-time meeting between Ole Miss and Mississippi State — one of the nation’s most-played rivalries. The Rebels hold a 67-49-6 advantage all-time, and they lead the series 61-30-5 since the Golden Egg trophy’s introduction in 1927.

Ole Miss has won 3 straight and 5 of the last 6. The 2025 meeting in Starkville went to the Rebels, 38-19, and officially secured their spot in the College Football Playoff.

That was Lane Kiffin’s last game as head coach. Pete Golding took over to begin the Playoff run and helped the Rebels to a semifinal appearance.

Each of the last 3 games in the series have been decided by double-digit points.
