Missouri will be without one of its redshirt freshman defensive backs during fall camp.
Isaac Thompson, a 4-star recruit from St. Louis, suffered a “lower body injury” and will sit out the preseason. His status for the Tigers’ season opener against South Dakota on Aug. 31 is not known at this time.
Thompson, considered by 247Sports as the No. 22 safety in the country in the class of 2022, played in a part of games in his first season in Columbia, which allowed him to redshirt. He has a full 4 years of eligibility remaining.
Mizzou has been struggling to gather momentum under Eli Drinkwitz. After going 5-4 in 2020, the Tigers have played to identical 6-7 records in 2021 and 2022. That’s despite claiming a pair of bowl game appearances, which they both lost.
This year, during SEC Media Days, the Tigers were picked to finish 6th in the SEC East ahead of only Vanderbilt.
#Mizzou DB Isaac Thompson will be out for fall camp after suffering a lower body injury last week. Everyone else is cleared and ready to practice.
