Cayden Lee has been a productive collegiate receiver throughout his career. The senior from Kennesaw, GA posted a combined 1,509 yards for the Ole Miss Rebels over the past two years. This season, though, he has taken his play to another level for the Missouri Tigers, and national outlets are noticing.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Biletnikoff Award announced it was adding Lee to its watch list. The decision comes after Lee made eight receptions for 110 yards in Mizzou’s 45-17 trouncing of the Florida Gators.
Lee has already set a career-high in touchdown grabs (4) this season. In Week 4 against the Mississippi State Bulldogs, he recorded 11 receptions for 157 yards and two touchdowns. He was also Pro Football Focus’ highest-graded Power 4 receiver for Week 5.
Austin Simmons has completed 67.9% of his passes (93/137) for 1,287 yards and 13 touchdowns with zero interceptions. Lee and Donovan Olugbode have been Simmons’ best weapons and have combined for the vast majority of the team’s receiving production:
- 61/102 receptions (59.8%)
- 929/1,392 yards (66.7%)
- 10/13 receiving touchdowns (76.9%)
That trio, with Jamal Roberts, has helped the Tigers average 38 points per game in their three contests against Power 4 competition. Missouri faces the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday afternoon (12:00 p.m. E.T., ABC).
