After 2018, Dak Prescott is going to be a very rich young man.
Multiple NFL analysts think Prescott is about to get a long-term contract extension and hefty raise with the Cowboys following the season, andย NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks even thinks Prescott will become the next $100 million man.
Right now, Prescott is making $630,000 base salary, less than many backup quarterbacks and good for 66th among league signal callers. That’s numbing. The former fourth-round pick sports a 22-10 overall record in two career seasons, throwing for nearly 7,000 yards, 45 TDs and 17 INTs.
Cowboys’ Vice President Stephen Jones knows he’s going to have to pay up, and he’s prepared for it.
โWe all see what some of the other guys are who arenโt Aaron Rodgers, who arenโt Matt Ryan [are getting paid],” Jones said, via the Star-Telegram. “Heโs going to do well. We certainly know thatโs going to happen. Weโve got that planned in our budgeting for the salary cap.
โI just want Dak to go out and be MVP this year of the NFL. Thatโs what I want. Then, weโll deal with that.โ
Hopefully for Prescott’s sake, he has a huge year in 2018.
