Baltimore Ravens losing some depth as former Alabama offensive lineman Andre Smith decides to opt-out
The Ravens are losing some depth on the line of scrimmage following this decision.
Baltimore signed Andre Smith this offseason to provide depth to the team’s offensive line but it turns out the team won’t have that issue solved by the former Alabama lineman as Smith has reportedly decided to sit out the 2020 NFL season according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.
“Ravens offensive tackle Andre Smith, who re-signed in Baltimore to provide some depth, has decided to opt-out, source said,” Rapoport reported on Tuesday morning.
Smith started five games for the Bengals during the 2019 season and has made a total of 116 NFL appearances during his lengthy NFL career. The No. 6 overall selection in the 2009 NFL Draft, Smith has also spent time with the Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Cardinals.
Interestingly, Smith’s former teammate at Alabama, Dont’a Hightower, has also made the decision to opt-out of the upcoming season with the New England Patriots.
