Nick Saban comments on Alabama’s blowout win over Utah State

Alabama was dominant, per usual, against its Week 1 opponent Utah State Saturday.
The Aggies were never in it. Quarterback Bryce Young was incredible, throwing for 195 yards and 5 touchdowns in 2 quarters of play in a 55-0 rout. The running game was close to as impressive, accounting for 268 yards on the ground and 1 touchdown for an average of 8.7 yards per rush. Against an 60th-70th percentile FBS team.
The Crimson Tide were scary good, but Nick Saban still found things to critique.
Saban on running game: “We had an explosive run (Gibbs), Bryce had an explosive run on a scramble, but what was the down-in, down-out consistency? … That’s something we need to improve on.”

It wasn’t all critique though. Saban was proud of how his team approached the game against the Aggies.
Nick Saban: “I was really pleased with the way the players approached this game.”

Nick Saban: “Good team win. I thought the offense and defense played well. The first group had one penalty.”

It only gets more difficult for the Crimson Tide from here one out. Georgia looked stout against Oregon, and a step up in competition awaits in Austin, Texas next week. The Texas Longhorns should still be a convincing win for the Tide, but preparation for the College Football Playoff has already begun and the Longhorns are ready to stand in the way.
Still, you’ve got to feel for those in Alabama’s path.
