Nick Saban suffered a nasty gash on his left cheek in the first half of the Iron Bowl, but after the win, the coach joked about the injury in the post-game press conference.

“Before you ask, you ought to see the other guy.” Saban said, and added that he took one of the game’s hardest hits but didn’t go to the injury tent. “They don’t make ‘em like they used to.”

About the team’s stars, Bryce Young and Will Anderson, Jr., Saban said, “I think those two guys not only have been good players for the University of Alabama, they’ve been great leaders for our team. They’ve set marvelous example for any young person wanting to play sports.”

Saban also added that Auburn ran a few plays that he hadn’t seen since Pop Warner when he was a QB in the Wing-T.
