Nick Saban believes he has a special group at Alabama this season.

The team has faced adversity early, but Saban believes he’s been given a unique challenge and he’s enjoyed coaching this team so far.

“I think this team is young, whatever you want to call it,” Saban said on SEC Nation Saturday morning. “It’s taken a different type of patience to be able to coach and develop and learn lessons and not let them get frustrated when things don’t go right. Even last week, to be able to maintain intensity in the game, get ahead 24-6 in the game and kind of just lose focus as a team and let the other team get back in the game. These are all lessons that this team is learning. It’s been challenging, but it’s been fun to be the teacher and try to help them grow through all that.”

Alabama was dealt an early loss to Texas in Week 2, but now the Tide seem to be finding their stride, winning their last 5 games. But now they’ll have a challenge as they face Tennessee, looking for a bounce-back game after losing last year’s matchup.

Alabama is looking to find its way into the College Football Playoff, and it can’t afford a second loss, so the Tide will need to be dialed in against Tennessee.

The game between the Tide and the Vols kicks off at 3:30 p.m. ET.
