Nick Saban’s potential return to the sidelines has become one of the biggest stories of the offseason.

While another college job for the legendary Alabama coach seems unlikely at this stage, numerous media personalities have floated the potential of Saban signing on with an NFL team this offseason. Fox Sports’ Nick Wright added his opinion to the proverbial pile on Wednesday, floating one specific team for Saban: the Cincinnati Bengals.

“If this coming year goes the way I think it might for Cincinnati, I think Nick Saban is an interesting idea there,” Wright said in a conversation with Colin Cowherd. It’s a team where, listen, got to coach up the defense, got to have someone to actually have as big of a voice in the organization as the owner. Got to clean up some of the nonsense going in the years they deal with every year, again, most of which is owner-related. And let Joe [Burrow] and Ja’Marr [Chase] handle the offense. Almost offload the offense to them.”

Here’s a longer clip from the conversation between Wright and Cowherd on FS1:

The Bengals do have one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL in Joe Burrow, which is likely a pre-requisite for Saban to consider a jump back to the pros. Saban famously flamed out with the Miami Dolphins in the mid-aughts due, in-part, to poor quarterback play. SDS’s Adam Spencer also wrote about Cincinnati as a top destination for Saban earlier this week.

The Bengals are entering a pivotal offseason under Zac Taylor. Cincinnati has failed to make the playoffs in each of the last 2 seasons.
