North Carolina being investigated by College Sports Commission, per report

Weeks before the 2026 season, North Carolina is getting the wrong kind of national attention. After news broke that general manager Michael Lombardi is currently on administrative leave, it was also reported that the program is being investigated by the College Sports Commission.
News of the CSC’s investigation was first reported by Pablo Torre, host of the Pablo Torre Finds Out podcast that rocked the college football world last year with its bombshell investigation into Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson.

Torre emphasized that the CSC investigation is a separate matter from Lombardi being placed on leave.

The CSC was created in 2025 to enforce NCAA rules regarding revenue sharing and NIL deals. Lombardi was reportedly placed on personal leave following an HR complaint. The matters do not appear to be connected.
These are not the kinds of headlines North Carolina is looking to make as it enters Year 2 of Belichick’s tenure. The Tar Heels went a disappointing 4-8 in 2025, Belichick’s first season leading Carolina football.
