Notre Dame beats out multiple SEC programs for elite pass rusher
Notre Dame made a massive addition to its 2026 recruiting class on Thursday afternoon.
The Fighting Irish earned a commitment from 4-star edge Rodney Dunham. He chose Notre Dame over offers from places like Georgia, South Carolina, Oregon, Tennessee and many others.
He shared the news of his commitment with On3’s Hayes Fawcett:
While Dunham is currently a 4-star recruit according to the 247Sports Composite, he’s right on the cusp of 5-star status. He’s currently the No. 33 overall player in the country for the class of 2026, per 247Sports Composite rankings. There are currently 30 players who have earned 5-star status, but that number could grow before the end of the cycle. Dunham is also considered to be the No. 4 edge and the No. 3 player from the state of North Carolina in this cycle.
Dunham is now the highest-ranked member of Notre Dame’s 2026 recruiting class. The Fighting Irish are up to 9 commits already and currently have the No. 13-ranked class for this cycle, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
Dunham attends Myers Park High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. He’s listed at 6-foot-4, 227 pounds.
Notre Dame has recruited extremely well under Marcus Freeman. The Irish have finished in the top-15 of the national rankings in each cycle since he became head coach.
