It’s never too early to recruit for future classes. While the Class of 2026 is on the clock as the next class to sign, that doesn’t mean Marcus Freeman and his staff can’t recruit for 2027, too.

On Monday, Notre Dame landed a blue-chip prospect for its 2027 recruiting class. Ellis McGaskin, a linebacker from Alabama, is the newest Irish pledge.

Out of Mobile (Alabama) Williamson High School, McGaskin currently measures 6-feet and 215 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, McGaskin is rated 4-stars, the No. 8 player in the state of Alabama, No. 13 linebacker and No. 209 prospect overall in the Class of 2027.

At this early stage of the 2027 cycle, McGaskin has already picked up scholarship offers from 23 programs. Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, Mizzou, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Texas A&M were among the programs to show interest.

McGaskin told Hayes Fawcett of On3 that he chose Notre Dame over LSU and Ohio State.
